I have to say. I’m satisfied with solcast forecast. Since I started tracking it’s 80% accurate and most of the time I overproduce vs forecast.

Hi all,

I’ve finally managed to get the mode setting working on the EVO through Home Assistant. I’ve been in contact with Fox ESS support, and after they updated my firmware, everything is now working correctly.

The firmware versions I’m currently running are:

INV_Master: 1.15
INV_Slave: 1.00
INV_Manager: 0.30
AFCI: 0.37
Software: 2.09
BAT_BCU: 1.004

I also had a look at Nathan’s integration. It appears he is in the process of integrating Adam’s changes into his own version, although it doesn’t seem to be fully complete yet.

Great to hear, Brian.

The last firmware update on my machine failed and bricked the Evo. Fox are RMAing me a new unit out. Thankfully we are in warmer months, as I’ve installed a heatpump and peak rate full pelt on that would have hammered me!

Hopefully Fox can ship out the replacement soon. Installer will also install an additional 2 evo units so I can get the full 30kwh battery. Hoping heatpump in winter can be mostly load shifted to off peak.

Adam,

That’s unfortunate your EVO was bricked. Hopefully you will get your new unit soon, however have you thought about waiting until the next version is released. It supports battery only additions. It may be cheaper than buying two complete units.

I have been considering getting another EVO as I have an export restriction of 3.68kW and my battery is often full by about midday. I have been quoted £5850 for an additional battery. I think it is too expensive. I will wait until the new version is available and if it is cheaper replace my current EVO with a new one and battery, then sell my original one.

I would love to get a heat pump, however my current boiler is only 8 years old and my pipes are 10mm plastic. It would be an expensive upgrade.

Yea it’s a good thought, Brian.
I was hoping the battery add ons would be released already but no sign yet.
Luckily I’m in the industry so the new units are cheap for me.

Very interesting. My firmware is almost the same only I have inv_manager 1.10 and bat_BCU of 1.001, but I have the 10-10H variant. I've not been able to get work mode or charge periods working yet. I can change it, but it reverts after a couple of seconds. I've removed all schedules in the app.

Hi,

Just had my system and installed and trying to get this going, I have wired it into pins 11 and 12 on the Evo 10 as per the Fox installation guide, then wired to the same A/B pins on the Waveshare Eth/Wifi as shown in the setup guide.

I just get this error in HA when I try and add with the version of the integration for the Evo installed via HACS
Error connecting to your adapter or inverter. Ensure the adapter is properly configured and is correctly wired to your inverter (see the setup link above), then try again. Details: Modbus Error: [Input/Output] timed out
I have gone over every setting of this box side by side and there is no difference in my configuration with the config guide that I can see.

I did notice though that the RX/TX lights don't flash, wouldn't you expect RX to be flashing if there is data transmitting as I assume it is always transmitting from the Evo 10? From other serial devices I have used in the past this was normally the case but thought I would check.

I have continuity checked my wiring as well and pin to pin it seems to test ok so I am not sure that is where the fault lies.

Anybody got any ideas? Thanks

EDIT: Sorted it, I changed it over to the EW11 and it works perfectly now!

Adam,
I've got modbus configured along with your integration. Im seeing no values for PV total and battery temperature (ambient). Im running this firmware:
EVO 10-8-H

Version:

Master 1.18

Slave 1.01

Manager 1.14

BCU 1.001

AFCI 0.35.

I asked Fox about the modbus register updates and they sent me the modbus document v 1.04 attached. As far as I can make out from the thread these appears to be a newer version than you have used in yout integration. Are you planning on doing any more updates to the integration ?

I spoke to Fox about it as mine wasn't working correctly at all, I have my own fork of the integration which is working perfectly but I couldn't write back schedules etc... correctly I kept getting errors.

Fox changed my firmware to a different version the other day than the version I had installed which was all the latest versions.

Not sure if that will help you with your issue, but it fixed mine.

Hi James,
What firmware versions are you running now?
Do you have the ability to control discharge using the work mode with your fork?
