Battery not supplying full load overnight

Hi all,

I just solar installed with KH7 inverter and an EP11 battery.

I've noticed that when the solar is producing enough to cover the load, everything looks fine - house load gets covered and the excess is exported. However, overnight I see a near constant 180-200W import from the grid (according to the smart meter/octopus mini) and only the remaining is supplied from the battery.

Given that the overnight load is about 280-320W, only about a third is of the power is supplied by the battery. The FoxCloud app reports a load of 100W or so.

The numbers seem to add up, but why would the battery not be used for the majority of the load?

Thanks for any help in advance!

Can you upload some examples to help explain what you're seeing?

Thanks for replying - sure, please see the below for my generation & use yesterday:

Notice the battery is virtually full, but there is a near constant draw from the grid when PV generation is low.

I managed to fix my issue by using the MeterCompensation parameter. I set a value of -160W which now results in a draw from the grid of 10W according to the Octopus home mini, while the battery supplies the remaining load.

I'm relying on FoxCloud for data and that is reporting an export of 150W to the grid. I'm not according to the Octopus home mini, and I would expect that this is actually going to Load.

Also, there's always a missing 150W according the FoxCloud data

Code: Select all

2.70 (PV) - 2.25 (Bat) - 0.15 (Grid) - 0.15 (load) = 0.15

Not sure if anyone can explain what's going on that requires this adjustment, or what's happening to that extra 150W - would be interesting to know.
