Mode Scheduler and Off Peak Battery Usage

I used to use the Grid Charge Setting feature to enable charging the battery between midnight and 05:30. If the battery didn't need charging I disabled the setting which allowed for cheap grid usage between these times without using the battery. At 05:30 this reverted back to self use or feed-in priority. I've started to experiment with mode scheduler, but have noticed that once the battery charges by about 02:00 it starts to be used and then charged again until 05:30 when the next schedule kicks in. Is there a way to prevent the battery being used during the off peak session?

The usage diagram shows the battery being charged to 85% by 01:50 and then the heat pump starts to draw power from the battery at 03:00 to heat the hot water. At 03:25 grid consumption spikes to recharge the battery, and this repeats twice more until the hot water is heated by 04:00.

Thanks

Try setting your Force Charge minSoC to 85% (or the same as your MaxSoC setting) - that way when it gets to 85% it won’t allow the battery to be discharged and will maintain 85%.

The minSoC setting is left as per the last schedule but your next schedule item at 05:30 resets it back to 10% so it should just need that one change to your Force Charge schedule.

Thanks for the quick response. I'll give that a try :)

The battery still discharged a little to supply the heat pump at 03:00. I tried to add FDSOC 85% on web interface but it was greyed out. I was successful on the android app though. Neither web or app would let me alter the Min SoC setting. It stayed at 10%.

Is there an alternate way to mimic the 'battery not being used setting' (force grid use while on cheap overnight slot) used in the basic grid charge setting? I could add another schedule between 02:00 and 05:30 if so.

I suspect once it gets colder and the heat pumps are on 24/7 I'll do very little, if any, feed-in or forced discharge and may revert back to the basic grid charge settings. The forced discharge has been an experiment over a month to see if it makes much financial difference vs increased battery wear. Over summer I used feed-in priority and could go 2 weeks without charging the battery.

Thanks

I experimented with setting the mode to Backup and created a new slot between 02:00 and 05:29 and set MinSoc, FDSoc and MaxSoc to 85% and this seemed to work. Looking at the discharge and gridconsumption power graphs, the battery, once charged to 85% between 00:00 and 01:59, held it's charge and was not used again until after 05:30.

Thanks again for your suggestions :)
