Lovely people,

Last week my FOX-ESS solar, battery and inverter system had a bit of meltdown that seemed to coincide with issues that were reported with the Foxcloud 2.0. The system was installed last summer has has worked flawlessly since then. My installer has been of ZERO help at all and I have had numerous emails and chats with the FOX-ESS help team, who have been very helpful, but have ultimately been unable to solve the problem remotely as they are unable to communicate with the BMS so are sending a new connector.

the problem started with a lost wifi, unable to instal firmware 2.03 and Bothe CODE-195 battery voltage fault and a CODE-234 BMS failure. The BMS has a red warning light and first to green lights are on.

I have managed to get the wifi connection restored and firmware upgrade complete but I can't resolve the CODE-234. The battery is no longer showing on my system and clearly I can't charge the battery - the main advantage for us at the moment is using the low price elec to force charge the battery.

I have tried the power down process a couple of times to no avail and somehow I don't think a new connection lead will help - an ethernet connector cable should have a lifespan well beyond the batteries..As I said earlier the installer is refusing to help as they say the warranty is with Fox-ESS...great! its self help

The code 195 is a battery over current fault which implies that something bad may have occurred on the DC output (possible short ?), the code 234 is usually a comms fault and can be because of cabling problems, missing parallel terminators (on EP batteries) or indicate that the battery is not responding.

Check all of the battery connections and also where they connect to the inverter are firmly pressed in.

When you say you have powered down, have you also powered off and on the battery - this should be done in sequence which is on the inverter isolate PV, isolate AC then power off the battery and open the battery DC breaker.

Wait 10 seconds, close the battery DC breaker, power on the battery (usually requires a 3 seconds button press), close the inverter AC isolator, then PV isolator - if that fails, you’ll need your installer to investigate as the battery over current may have had a more serious impact.

Thanks very much for taking the time to reply. Yes that his the power down and up process I followed. FOX-ESS have sent a new ethernet cable for the inverter to BMS and that hasn't resolved the issue; they are sending new cables for the 4 batteries, which I suspect will not address the issue as the cables are all firmly connected and the system is only 9 months old.

My installer is refusing to engage saying my warranty is with FOX-ESS. I suspect I will have to wait until FOX-ESS have exhausted every option before I can make progress. Meanwhile my battery isn't showing on the system and I'm not benefiting for the force charge option at cheap rates, which was essentially how I was powering the house.

If you are technical enough to follow the wiring up of the In/Out data connections, what happens if you just wire up a single battery for communications?

From your description you have Red in 1st LED, Green on 2nd. Which is described as parallel addressing failure.

Module addressing failed then for that combination

The first battery becomes master, and the next ones in the chain become slaves or whatever they refer to them as.
It seems that one of the loops out from battery 1-2, 2-3 or 3-4 has gone.

Well that is how I understand the addressing sheme.

Would you be able to power it all off and use a single battery to check?
Understand if this is not in your capabilities, not everyone is happy to muck about.
