Hi Guys and Gals, I'm in the UK in Yorkshire and just contemplating adding a bit more solar and battery. We've ditched the gas and gone electric with a heat pump.
We've the following on our garage roof
25 off Astronergy CHSM54RNs(DG)(BLH)/F-BH 440W All Black Solar Modules
25 off Tigo Optimisers with Bluetooth Controller
2 off Fox Inverters H1-5.0-E-G2, 10kW total
2 off Fox ECS 4300H-H2 8.29kWh, 16.6 kWh total
2 x Ohme Car Chargers
and are looking to put another 15ish panels on our south facing extension roof (the pitch is 15 degrees).
I hope I'm right in thinking the solar panels are the easy bit, I'm just wondering what to do reference the new inverter and batteries??
I would like about 40kw batteries in total and big enough inverter/s to cope.
The extension roof is about 15m from our consumer unit, we put an AC cable is as a precaution when building. and the existing batteries / inverts (in parallel) are another 15m away.

I think I would drop a line to your DNO before you get ahead of yourself, you have 10kW of inverter capacity, not sure if they will let you add another 5kW on top (or whatever you was hoping to expand it by)
Hi there, the garage roof is 11kw Solar, the inverter as you say is 10kw, but I'm capped with an export limit of 8kw.
I'm happy with the 8kw export, more would be nice, but 8kw is ok.
I'd just like the extra solar to help power the heat pump, Aircon and cars. I understand at peak solar output I'll probably have to export 8kw while also filling the batteries, and powering the aircon in the house (my wife and I work from home).
I thought, correct me if I'm wrong that I could just bring the export earlier in the day and help with the morning spike and afternoon spike.
At the moment I export some of my current 16kw to ensure I don't get clipped by the inverter (I'm a right Yorkshireman)

With automations from Home Assistant, you can have it monitor expected PV output of your existing system.
It can then make sure there is enough capacity to mop up spare PV.
So essential you control your system with better intelligence to make sure there is room to mop up.
You don't even need to have Home Assistant, if you just make sure there is capacity (room) to mop up excess PV.
