Just this week got the following letter from ActewAGL here in the ACT to let me know that my electricity supply charges are changing from 14th September 2026 and I’m just wondering did others in the ACT get the same or similar letter?
Yes I know, we all get these letters quite regularly and just say ‘oh well’, but NO not this time, I’m going to become their worst nightmare!
I sat down and went thru the figures and if I’m correct and I think I am those MF’s have put our Daily Supply Charge up by approximately 17%, and increased the ‘Peak’ and ‘Shoulder’ rates by around 26%... WTF…who do they think they are, Albanese???
I studied the figures (see below) and what they have done is reduced my DMO ‘discount’ from 24% to 13%, generally upped the rates 17% – 26%, extended the ‘Peak’ period, changed the 10pm-7am ‘OffPeak’ period to now be at ‘Shoulder’ rates, and, then out of the kindness of their hearts allowed us in the ACT a new 4-hour ‘OffPeak’ period from 11am-3pm, well glory be… when in a number of other states they have ‘4 for FREE’ or alike.
No we can’t use Globird, Flow, or CovaU here due to Govt regulations here in ACT, no success with Origin or AGL either, and I’m not sure that I’d want to try Amber, and the VPP that gets a mention in my letter from ActewAGL is limited to 3 brands of battery, your connection and other limiting factors that preclude me and I suspect most customers.
Am I annoyed, yes. Am I going to take this up with ActewAGL, you bet. Do I think I’ll get anywhere with them, not f’n likely.
