PV reading not acurate
Hi

Iv got 3.7 e inverter. As for yesterday my 4kw solar panels was connected to pv 1 on inverter.
Yesterday iv separated them into 2 x2kwh and used pv2 for second string.
But Inverter showing only volts - no amps. IV checked yesterday with multimeter- it was 88v and 3amps on pv2 string. But on inverter its only volts and no amps.
Can someone point me in right direction? What exactly may be going on here.

thx

Re: PV reading not acurate
It looks like you don't have enough panels on a string for the MPPT to startup, the startup value is around 75V but there has to be enough power at the same time, from past experience I would normally recommend you have a minimum of 4 panels on each string and that your string voltage is above 100V.

Hi

Thank you for your answer. Iv got currently, as of 5 min ago - 6x505w panels, connected to pv2 and 4x505w to pv1.
So i1m pretty sure its not lack of v for starting mppt .

Re: PV reading not acurate
iv moved back , now pv1 has 8 panels. Could pv2 be just faulty ?

Re: PV reading not acurate
I don’t think PV2 is faulty, I know I said 4 panels minimum but that actually depends on the panels you have, looking at PV1 at the moment your voltage is still only 157V with all panels attached which suggests they have quite a low Vmp and with a low voltage the MPPT may not be able to find a power point that doesn’t reduce the voltage below the startup voltage.

Are you thinking of adding any more solar panels in the future ?, if you are and they are in the same plane as your existing panels, I think it would be worth splitting the array again and having at least 5 panels (but more if possible) - otherwise i’d keep everything on the one string which should be more effective for that MPPT.
