"Self Use" is not using battery at specific times
I have a new install of:

9x 475W AIKO panels
FoxESS H1 3.68kW Inverter
FoxESS EP6 5.7kW battery

The panels are generating ok and are supplying enough power to supply the house between 0900 and 1900 and then the battery starts supplying.

Between 2100 and 0500 everyday it reverts to pulling from the grid and then goes back to the battery at just after 5am and then starts charging at around 0900 when there's enough surplus from the solar.

Can't find anything in the settings that has an exclusion period for 'self use' The mode is just set to self use and the battery min/max SoC is set to 10% and 100%

Seems strange that even when the battery SoC is at 80% it still stops using the battery and draws from the grid.

Can I set the system to use solar first, then battery until discharged and then pull from grid? When I read up on 'self use' that was pretty much the description.

Any idea why it's ignoring this between 2100 > 0500?
Re: "Self Use" is not using battery at specific times
Given that this seems to happen each day from 21:00 to 05:00, grid draw despite SoC being above 10%... suggests that there is a schedule running that it holding the power back.

Have you got some energy graphs?
Can you find your scheduler?

Re: "Self Use" is not using battery at specific times
I've been using the web interface in preference to the app since it was installed.

Work mode is set to "Self Use" but there are no advanced settings or options for that, it is just select and save for that mode (unless I've missed how to turn advanced options on?)

On your last picture, if you select details next to your work mode, there should be a drop down box.
Scroll down to Advanced -> Mode Scheduler, and show what you have there please.
Re: "Self Use" is not using battery at specific times
There are no schedules in there (deleted them a few days ago when I was using Octopus Agile)

Re: "Self Use" is not using battery at specific times
Maybe Agile still has your system by short and curlies.
It might be an idea to set a charge/discharge for a single minute at 21:00 to 21:01, save it.

Then check values tonight to see if it swaps modes after that schedule and stops taking grid power.
If that works, then you can erase that schedule, save and test tomorrow what it does at 21:00?

Energy Stats by AI Priest might also take 'control' of your system better if this does not take.
Re: "Self Use" is not using battery at specific times
I had deleted the agile tariff and then left it without one in the belief that "self use" should use its own priorities.

I was using the agile tariff as they installed the battery but had problems with the roof so they couldn't install the panels. Was using agile to force charge the battery during cheap periods and then use it during peak rates.

Found it (agile mode) was fairly useless so switched to using the octoprice website to create manual schedules from the pricing.

When the panels were finally installed last week I deleted the agile tariff and set it to self use mode.
Re: "Self Use" is not using battery at specific times
Yeah gotcha, but I would still set a 1-min schedule, test and then check results.
If the testing fails, the manager might have crashed, and system needs a full shutdown/restart to get it on track again.
Re: "Self Use" is not using battery at specific times
Ah that's interesting, when I enabled agile it did hang so I had to do a full shutdown/restart.

I'll try that again this evening in case removing agile fubar'd it again.

Cheers for your help.

Interesting, hope it works in testing
Re: "Self Use" is not using battery at specific times
That didn't fix it. At 21:05 it went back to importing from the grid.

I changed it to "peak shaving" and set the import limit to 5W and that forced it to feed from the battery.

Think I'll have to log a support case with Fox as this is weird.

Re: "Self Use" is not using battery at specific times
Have you done a full power off/on since last night?
It might also be worth loading up Energy Stats by AI Priest to see if it can wrestle control back.
Re: "Self Use" is not using battery at specific times
Yep full shutdown was done yesterday at 1700 and left off for 20mins before restarting.

Have just installed the app and changed the mode to backup as that has the same priorities as self use
Re: "Self Use" is not using battery at specific times
Fingers crossed tonight pans out for the better then
