export reading and rates
After a month in use I am soon to start getting paid for exporting yippee :D :D ....I have already given away over 500kWh for free
I would like to reset / zero the total export / total revenue to grid figure so as to start again....can this be done and if so how?
Also, I cant seem to enter the FIT of 12p /kWh with Octopus....am I missing something ?

Thanks

Re: export reading and rates
Congrats on getting your export MPAN, shame about the 500kWh

I don't think you can reset anything yourself, and I would personally recommend you create a spreadsheet to track import/export values. Reason being, if in the future the 12p export becomes 6p for example, the system is too dumb to apply the change on dd/mm/yyyy... so it applies it to every single kWh exported.
Re: export reading and rates
Oh dont worry..... there will be plenty of spreadsheets 🤣🤣🤣

Re: export reading and rates
another question.... on the dashboard, although I see a total revenue generated amount it says no tariff.....

and I cant see anywhere to amend it apart from in here settings

is this correct?... I am on Octopus @12p / kWh

Re: export reading and rates
I have mine set at 0 :D so that it doesn't show to me some random value for Total Revenue that is bogus.

Will does have a good selection of videos on his channel for many subjects
Re: export reading and rates
thanks...now sorted

@MaterialBarracuda48: ...... deleting the existing tariff did in fact clear out all the entries as desired :D

Perfect
Re: export reading and rates
Finally got the solar FIT sorted.....during the summer months - potentially March to October and beyond - the system should give us totally free electric day and, with the battery being charged up during the day, free night electric saving at least £130 of grid draw and produce at least £60** a month FIT.... with a £10k initial outlay it should give a payback period of 5 years and then produce £2k a year income saving year on year ......wow

So far - and its only been in for the month of April - we have produced 1.03 MWh, self used 511 kWh, exported 508 kWh and used around 96kWh at 6p /kWh (£5) from the grid overnight for my sons' EV ....if every house did that and of course it was sunny every day we wouldnt need a grid at all !!!

** should be higher, that was Aprils' figure which we didnt get paid as they hadnt set it up yet 😠

pretty impressive so far........its nice having the option to do the washing / dishwasher / tumble dryer / cooking any time of day without really thinking about it, so far the battery has remained above 20% charge altough obviously in winter it probably wont charge fully during the day.....but we can top it up overnight at 6p /kWh which, once that orange idiot has finished bombing the middle east will hopefully come back down to 5p or less

Re: export reading and rates
Still getting to grips with all the options and settings .......unless I am mistaken I think i would be better off charging the battery overnight at 6p/kWh (EV rate) and exporting anything the house doesn't use uring thd day for FIT payment.......I am assuming the PV generation priority would be house use, battery charging, export
What would be the easiest way of doing this ?...setting a charge schedule?
Thanks

That’s what I do, I charge overnight on low tariff and leave the workmode set to Feedin - you can either schedule it to happen first thing in the morning and back to Self Use at night, or as I do at this time of year I just leave it in Feedin as the inverter will always meet house load overnight.
Re: export reading and rates
great, thanks.... I am also trying the capture AI program to see how that fares...
Any experience or tips with that ?

Re: export reading and rates
I would second the charge overnight, and feed-in tariff for the daytime with one note.
If your export limit is low, then your PV output will be capped, so you may have to make some room in the battery to store the excess.

I have 6.16kWp and a 3.9kW export, so on good solar days, your PV would be capped out. If you have room in your battery, it can mop up the overspill.

What is your export limit, if it is high enough, then you won't need to worry about this.
Re: export reading and rates
It's 5kWh

Re: export reading and rates
Odds are you should charge overnight to 100%, and when your cheap period ends, a cheeky little discharge for 30-45mins to lower the SoC so it can mop up the solar above 5kW.
