Hello,
I am a new user. I am on a day night rate so want to minimize grid usage during the day as much as possible. Although exporting electricity at the moment during the day, I noticed 81% of my grid usage is day rate. I understand that when the solar power is insufficient the inverter uses 2-12 watts of grid to keep the circuit active. However, I have noticed usage greater in order of 18-20 watts and see while solar power drops to under use, the battery does not immediately kick in so there is a period of battery charging while the solar panels are not meeting energy use levels.
I have read that in Self Use mode the battery should kick in immediately the solar panels are unable to meet demand, but this is not so. The battery continues to charge to the maximum set, rather than discharging. Please can anyone help me ensure I do not get this grid usage as when it happens my battery is nearly full, so no reason for it.
Secondly, I have seen the routine to Force Charge the battery, so one can charge the battery between set times when grid rate is cheaper. However, is there a way to control this Force Charge to a particular % of battery? At the moment if i use it I get charge when the battery charge is sufficient to cover the night, meaning I pay unnecessarily for grid energy to charge the battery when its not needed. If i could set it the it kicks in at under 50% charge that would mean it only charged when needed.
