Not enough current to charge EV and Fox
I have a H7 (16 Solar Panels and 11kWh battery) system. Installed 6 months ago and working fine. I control it via Home Assistant.
Until now I have been charging my EV via 13amp socket. I recently had an Andersen EV charger fitted. Today was an Agile plunge day so I was looking to optimise my usage. EVCharger (7KW), Washing Machine (~2KW), Dryer (~2KW) all running. I also wanted to charge the Fox battery but for much of the time the Fox was charging at a much restricted rate (1-3KW). Turned off the EV and immediately the fox went up to max (6-7KW). The max grid consumption I recorded was about 11KW.
It is almost as if the current draw from the grid is being limited somewhere. Is this the KH7? Is there a setting in the inverter for this? I had a quick look in the settings but cant see anything obvious.
ANY ADVICE most welcome!
Re: Not enough current to charge EV and Fox
Find 'Controls' for your FoxESS in HA, this will show you Import/Export and Current limits quickly.
Post a pic once you have it.
Re: Not enough current to charge EV and Fox
I was able to pull 14kW so around 63Amps from grid, at this time, the battery charge dropped from 7.7kW to 5.75kW whilst having a shower.

Here are my HA controls for my KH7

Re: Not enough current to charge EV and Fox
Thanks for your fast response. Here are my settings (BTW I am using Modbus to connect)

These are my settings. The input power maxes out at 14.5 KW - is that a hard limit?
Re: Not enough current to charge EV and Fox
Using Modbus also.

I was able to input 18400W (divided by 230V for 80A incoming fuse rating)
Are you not able to input directly this value? Be sure to type it, don't use the up arrow as you will 'flood' and lock out the system with too many requests.

If you have 'flooded' the inverter, then just wait for a few hours/tomorrow and input new value.
Re: Not enough current to charge EV and Fox
I can type in higher values (20000) but after a second or two it flips back to 14500. If I type a lower value (13000) it holds. Is there a limit of 14500 set in the inverter that is overriding a higher input?
Re: Not enough current to charge EV and Fox
Firmware related perhaps? That sounds like a *recent 63Amp bug (14500W / 230V)

Edit: * Sorry in past few months
Re: Not enough current to charge EV and Fox
OK my bad - I was adjusting the wrong value 'Import Power' rather than 'Export Power' (I think the naming convention in this area - based on the grid perspective - is very confusing!!!!). I can set the Export Power to higher values. So if I find the main home fuse rating and use this to calculate KW with a bit of spare I am safe to change this value?

Thanks for your help.

Your export amount should match your G99 limit from DNO, and especially if you don't want a rap on the knuckles :D
That should also state hopefully your import capacity.

As mentioned, mine is set to 18400W (80Amp) but the Fox will limit you to 63Amp.
Re: Not enough current to charge EV and Fox
Thanks again! You have been very helpful.
I will be interested to see how it goes next plunge event.
Re: Not enough current to charge EV and Fox
You're welcome, best of luck with the next plunge event (next Sat is looking good if the wind holds up)
