FoxESS S-Series S3000-G2 Home Assistant Modbus integration
Hello,

I just ordered a FoxESS S3000-G2 inverter and a WaveShare Industrial Grade Serial Server RS232/485 to WiFi/Ethernet Modbus MQTT Gateway in order to integrate this inverter with Home Assistant.

Apparently I made a misguided decision, as it turns out that the Home Assistant modbus integration doesn't really support the S-Series inverters - see:
https://github.com/nathanmarlor/foxess_modbus

Please advise if there are any other modbus integration projects I should try.

The location I'm planning to use this inverter is remote and I do only have partial cellular (4G) connectivity, therefore a cloud integration is useless. I only need to check and read the AC output power of the inverter in order to start/stop appliances (heating/air conditioning & co) that are already integrated in Home Assistant.

Thanks in advance for any help/advice.

The original S series did not support modbus and there was a clunky hardware hack that allowed you to hijack the RS485 polling message that wen to the datalogger, but have a read of this thread as something may have changed on the G2 viewtopic.php?t=3477

Alternatively you can use the cloud interface https://github.com/macxq/foxess-ha which gives you 5 minute data samples, and if you need real time load or grid usage you could use a shelly EM with ct clamp to give you that - anyway best of luck, if you could confirm what you eventually implement it'll be useful for the community.
