From what I can see this is all working as expected. It kinda is what is it. It's worth noting that It's not recommended to mix roof directions on the same mppt, even with optimisers, your startup voltage will be lower and the performance lower. For a setup like this I would have each direction on it's own mppt. A cheap S or F series added to your install would help. Likely not worth changing anything now.

My neighbour has 8 panels on the same roof as I have 5 his pv beats my 16 panels everyday.
The sun was on all my panels yesterday.
please see photos.
The five on the double story are in the sun all day
Its almost as if the 11 panels on the three roofs you can see are not working.
Regards Dave.

Yeh so you have small arrays linked together on the same mppt. Something about your install must be different and suboptimal compared to his.

Would you say that I have too many panels and too many different roofs.
I was told optimisers would balance up the system [shade/sunlight]

If anything, you need more panels per array and each array on it's own mppt input. Optimisers won't solve this, sadly.
Optimisers are designed for panels in an array that might have shading, they not suppose to be used to manage different roof directions.

Good morning .
Yesterday we had the sun on all panels at 18.00 I looked at my Pv for the day.
16 panels 16.4 kW.
My neighbour has 8 panels his Pv was 21.4kW .
Its almost if 11 panels are not working.
Surely the more panels you have it would produce more power.
regards Dave

Hi all,
I just cannot get my head around that the PV 1 power is so much lower than PV2 at this time of day, All panels are in sunshine, it doesn't make sense.
My installers are coming out Friday to look at PV 1 for the third time. Not sure what they could find.
all connections where checked, changed strings to carry 8 panels each.
As I have mentioned before my neighbour has 8 panels and every day he producers more than my 16.
Any info would be gratefully received.
Regards Dave

Hi Will ,unfortunately no, but the sun is on all sixteen panels by midday. surely the PV should go up in the afternoon,
why else would I have them.
Regards Dave

You can't compare strings that aren't at the same angle or direction. Small differences will have a large impact on generation. You may be hunting for a solution to a problem that doesn't exist. Your installer can check the panels with an open circuit test, but beyond that, I'm not sure why you're comparing your panels with your neighbours. Half the panel pointing at the perfect angle and direction will always outperform more panels pointing in a non-ideal direction.
Remember 1 degrees difference can create an output difference of over 5% so alignment is everything and where not possible, you just have to live with the fact they'll generate less.
I'm not trying to put you off, just reassuring you that it might be working perfectly based on where you can place your panels.

Good morning, Will.
Thanks for getting back to me.
It seems i have wasted money putting more panels on.
I thought the more panels you would have more power would be generated .
obviously I'm wrong.
Its a shame that i was not informed about this before i added more panels
Regards Dave
