Hi,
We currently have a 4kw pv array attached to an H1 3.7 inverter with 3 hv2600 batteries (V1 batteries - version C).
Have just taken an AC1 5kw inverter and 7 HV 2600 batteries (V1 batteries - Version D) out of another property and was wondering, if I had this fitted to our property alongside what is already there, is it possible to make the AC1 and H1 inverters work together so we are always charging / discharging in an optimal way.

Sadly, there is no supported way to link the older style inverters. I've serially connected the old style before but it's not really a great solution. The best way forward would be to upgrade both your inverters to two x H1-gen2, which support parallel mode.
