Where is the Fox Cloud data hosted?
If I do a dns lookup of www.foxesscloud.com from my machine I get an ip address 8.209.116.72.

If I look this address up at https://whoisrequest.com, I'm told that it is located in Germany and part of a block ALICLOUD-DE.

"The netblock 8.209.116.0/24 is allocated by the Alibaba (US) Technology Co. entity which is identified with 45102 Autonomous System Number (ASN). The range itself is named ALICLOUD-DE and holds 256 unique IP addresses. The total number of IP ranges allocated by this organization is 457. "

Is the data subject to GDPR? Can anyone add any further detail?

Re: Where is the Fox Cloud data hosted?
Correct, Fox uses Alibaba Cloud which has regional locations, as far as i've figured out, they have EU, US and APJ clusters. Fox appears to be steering based on site location and requester IP address.

Technically, a bunch of random generation numbers used to make the fox cloud work is not PII data and as such not part of or protected by GDPR.

You could argue that your name and address are PII, but then Fox provides the ability to view and delete the information they hold as self service.

Ultimately, if you don't want to use the cloud, just unplug the datalogger and program your inverter using the touch screen interface or using a local method like the RS485 modbus connection.
