Monthly ACTUAL PV Production

Hi,

I am trying to find out what my ACTUAL PV generation is and have 2 questions. I am not knowledgeable on the background electrical or technology side of things so simple explanations would be really appreciated.

I have a 7-panel string connected to a Fox F3600 Inverter with a dongle. This is connected to a Fox Hybrid/AC Inverter Model: AC1-5.0-E-G2 with a dongle and batteries attached.

Q1. What does the dongle on the F3600 do and what is it talking to?
Q2. See the 2 screenshots. The Home display says my PV Production so far today is 8.1 kWh but the inverter controlling the 7 panels says it is 3.9 kWh. I tend to believe the 3.9 kWh as what I have actually produced from my panels alone. However, if this display is the right one, how do I get monthly totals of what I ACTUALLY produced from the panels alone?

The Month tab on the home screen I assume is totalling the PV Production numbers which look high and I cannot see a way to extract the monthly totals for the F3600 inverter only?

I tried using the website login and extracted a report but it didn't seem to contain the numbers I was looking for.

Morning,

I think I know what is going on, can you check on the plant graph view with the image of the house and post a screenshot of the graphic with the power flow chart.

Just as i suspected, you'll need your installer to add a second ct known as ct2 to the AC1-5.0-E-G2 which will be clipped around the ac output of the F series string inverter. Once installed and configured, you'll then see a generation figure. Currently, your ac charger is counting the solar generation twice as without the second ct, generation is just appearing.

Hi,

Thank you for this. I have emailed the installer to request the change you requested.

Can I ask one final question, sorry if it is a silly question.... but is the lower production number showing on Inverter2/F3600(3.9 kWh in the screenshot below) wrong too? That is, it is not my actual PV generation?

Will the addition of the second ct just make the numbers consistent between the main display and the Inverter2 display or will they actually correct/change the numbers as well?

Sorry, feel like I am coming up a steep learning curve.

Thanks again for all your help.
Kind Regards, David

oh, one thing i've noticed. Are both the F and AC inverters under the same site or separate sites?

HI, I could use a follow up on this one. I had the installer make the cabling changes requested above. However, a lot of data seems to have disappeared and I am not sure that I can answer my original question... What is my PV Generation today ... or yesterday etc..

See the changes below, they are the Old and New screenshots (New=following the wiring changes). The device screen now shows the F3600 inverter as having disappeared and the Home screen has also disappeared.

Any guidance on where I can find my PV generation numbers would be really appreciated. Or whether I need to contact the installer again, but I would need some guidance on what to ask him to do he has been really helpful so far.

Looks like the F series datalogger has been removed or disconnected?

is there a reason you didn't have a hybird inverter installed? Why have a separate solar inverter?

Hi,

I do have a hybrid inverter a Fox Ess AC1-5.0-E-G2 to which is connected the batteries and the Fox F3600 to which is connected the panels. It also takes generation form a separate 2009 panel installation to store in the batteries.

1 milli-second after my post the installer emailed me to say that when they installed the revised cabling yesterday (we were not at home) they didn't update FoxCloud. They want me to now create a new plant for the F3600 which they say will complete everything. They didn't leave me any notes saying this still was outstanding.

Now awaiting some guidance on creating the new plant, I haven't done this before and don't want to screw it up.

Many Thanks for your help, I really appreciate it.
